WEST POINT General William J. Lennox, Superintendent, USMA
Professors like to say that at West Point you are taught the history made by its own graduates. It happens to be very true. West Point is a national citadel that has produced America's greatest military leaders and two American Presidents.

From Washington and Jefferson to Grant and Lee, from Patton and MacArthur to Eisenhower and Schwartzkof, heroes are something West Point has in extreme abundance. Based on a simple but profound creed, "Duty, Honor and Country," its graduates take with them not just an esteemed education, but immortal ideas and a system of values to live by.

COACH PAT SUMMITT, winningest female coach in basketball history
As the nation's winningest women's basketball coach, The University of Tennessee's Pat Summitt will garner yet another career milestone this season, coaching in her 1,000th career game. For nearly three decades, Summitt has been at the helm of a championship basketball program at UT. This head coach eclipsed the 800 career victory plateau midway through her 29th season. In doing so, she became the first woman in all of NCAA Division I basketball to accomplish such a lofty goal. She reached 800 wins faster than any basketball coach at any level.

She has coached six NCAA Championship Teams, 11 Olympians, 17 Kodak All-Americans and 56 All-SEC performers. It's no wonder that on October 13, 2000, she was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.

COACH JOHN WOODEN, winningest coach in basketball history
The UCLA teams coached by John Wooden scaled unprecedented heights that no future organization in any sport is likely to approach. Under his masterful guidance, the Bruins set all-time records with four perfect 30-0 seasons, 88 consecutive victories, 38 straight NCAA tournament victories, 20 PAC-10 championships, and 10 national championships, including seven in a row.

Considered one of the finest teachers the game has ever seen, The Pyramid of Success is a well-known by-product of the Wooden coaching era. His ability to instill these principles upon his players made Wooden a master of developing talent, including NBA legends such as Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. A six-time Coach of the Year, Wooden is one of only two people honored in the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach.
