About Pat Lu

Pat Lu founded RAYMA Sdn Bhd (formerly known as RAYMA Management Consultants) in 1987, with only RM200 in her pocket. In the first year of business, she worked from home. In the second year of business, she rented an office. In the third year of business, she bought her own building. The rest is history.

Rayma (abbreviation “Sunshine on Malaysia”), is one of the early pioneers in the conference organizing industry. As the Chief Imagination Officer of Rayma, Pat Lu has successfully secured a number of “FIRSTs” for the company; first to bring in world renowned authorities, authors and speakers to Malaysia (such as Tom Peters, Jack Trout, Al Ries, Philip Kotler, Liam Fahey, Igor Ansoff, Warren Bennis and Tony Buzan),first to advertise on television, first to launch homepage on the internet, and the first Professional Conference Organizer to be admitted as a member in the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers (MACEOS).

Under the direction of Pat Lu, Rayma’s clientele includes local and international blue chip companies and has worked with respected local and international bodies worldwide to manage their conferences, exhibitions and events in Malaysia. In 2000, Pat Lu was the only PCO invited by Tourism Malaysia to participate under the Malaysian Pavilion in the IT&ME 2000 - The 28th Incentive Travel and Meeting Executive Show in Chicago. She was also a member of the delegation under Tourism Malaysia to give a presentation to promote Malaysia as a MICE Centre to MICE agents, incentive travel planners and travel agents in Minneapolis, Los Angeles and New York.

RAYMA also specializes in organizing in-house and public seminars for the whole spectrum of audiences, from executive management levels to students. A popular speaker, Pat Lu’s presentations received much accolade. Besides the corporate world, Pat Lu has given talks to schools and colleges as education is one of her pet interests. In the educational field, Pat Lu has been invited to speak at IACT for their graduating students for several years. She also presented at University Malaya at their Youth Leadership Training Program, to teachers of Assunta Primary School and members of Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia nationwide.

During the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, Pat Lu and her friends formed a group called the Pahlawan Volunteers to explore possible ways to alleviate the devastating effects of the crisis. Among other things, they initiated the “Visit Malaysia Cyber Campaign” (VMCC). VMCC was a citizen-led campaign – the first of its kind in the world – where people from all walks of life came together as a nation to promote Malaysia via the Internet. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism and the National Economic Action Council (NEAC) which provided a link to the official NEAC website. They also received acknowledgement from the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In 2002, she anchored a weekly column in the Malay Mail newspaper, entitled “Think Possibility.” For her outstanding leadership and entrepreneurial qualities, Pat was listed in the “Who’s Who of the Asia Pacific Rim, 1993.” Past affiliations include American Management Association and American Society for Training and Development.

Pat Lu truly believes that “nothing is impossible.” She continues to be dynamic, idealistic as well as unconventional. Her passions are strategic product planning and development, marketing and communication management. Her aims are to build the next generation of leaders, to foster self-reliant communities and to champion education as a life long learning experience.
